The Norwegian drummer Snorre Kirk, who moved to Denmark in 2004 to study music and never went home again, swings like few others here in the Nordic countries – in style.
In his original compositions, he deliberately focuses on the very simple, but deeply timeless and quiet. It’s always music that goes straight to the heart, and finds the beat to be close to it.
This evening we will hear Snorre Kirk with his regular bassist Anders Fjeldsted – steady as a rock – and the two fine musicians, the Italian-American saxophonist and clarinetist Giacomo Smith and pianist Joe Webb. All three play with a historical overview and a technical superiority that suits Snorre Kirk’s restrained but deeply swinging drumming.
