Crooner jazz

Look forward to an afternoon with these four sublime award-winning musicians.

Birgitte Soojin sings jazz with her whole body and soul – as if she wants nothing else.
The internationally acclaimed, three-time Grammy nominee Birgitte Soojin makes heartfelt jazz from a selection of blues and good old-fashioned swing jazz. She sings with comforting maturity and great conviction, with a range that goes from strongly honest, seductive and laid-back to swinging and energetic. The 5-star reviews are many, but it is her charming and infectious presence on stage that makes her a very special live experience. With her powerful yet laid-back approach – and with her honest enthusiasm, she makes us love jazz even more than we could. There are singers who sing jazz, and then there are jazz singers. Soojin is definitely a jazz singer.

At this concert, Birgitte Soojin will be accompanied by none other than Zier Romme on piano. Romme received the Ben Webster Award in 2023. In addition, Swedish Cornelia Nilsson is featured on drums. Nilsson is the recipient of the Tivoli Jazz Prize in 2021. They bring with them Anders Fjeldsted, who plays the bass and who in 2017 was one of the prestigious recipients of the Bent Jædig award. He has also – together with his sexet – received the prestigious ‘Getxo International Jazz Contest’ in Spain.

We can hardly wait for them to visit the stage together at Ærø Jazzfestival.

Line-up:

Mads Mathias (vocals and sax)
Zier Romme (piano)
Anders Fjeldstad (bass)
Cornelia Nilsson (drums)
