After having been sidekick for American and Danish jazz icons for several years, pianist, Hammond organist and crooner Jan Nielsen chose in 2016 to put together his own band, under the name Flying Jazzman. The band plays solid swinging jazz inspired by pianists Nat King Cole, Oscar Peterson, Errol Garner and organists Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff. Jan Nielsen, Flying Jazzman, who lived in the United States for a number of years, has played gigs in New Orleans and been a regular musician in a gospel church in southern Alabama.

Flying Jazzman Organ Quartet Experience the atmosphere of a bygone jazz era, where the sound of the Hammond organs with their rotating Leslie speakers reigned supreme… and where Groove was crucial. The Flying Jazzman Organ Quartet is reminiscent of the classic jazz organ ensembles led by icons Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff’s, who were among the greatest in the 60s and 70s. The Flying Jazzman Organ Quartet is committed to keeping the soulful, funky spirit of classic organ jazz alive, playing old and new tracks in groovy and swinging style.
